What are Green Rewards?

At The Green Insurer, we believe driving greener should come with rewards! That’s why we’ve created Green Rewards, an exclusive portal packed with discounts, offers, and freebies - just for our customers.

How it works

Drive greener

You will earn Green Rewards for using simple techniques to drive in a fuel efficient way. Here are some tips on how to drive in a fuel efficient way:

• Drive smoothly and avoid harsh braking or acceleration.

• Drive at a fuel efficient speed. Many modern cars will help you with this, but generally avoid driving over 60mph wherever possible.

• If you have a manual gearbox, change up gears to keep those revs low.

• Keep your tyres well inflated.

• Use start/stop tech to avoid using fuel when you are stationary.

When you take out a car insurance policy with The Green Insurer, you tell us how many miles you expect to drive. Try to avoid short journeys to reduce your mileage and you'll get Green Rewards for driving fewer miles.

Use your Green rewards to buy eGift cards

When you redeem an offer through Green Rewards, you're purchasing an eGift card.

eGift cards are sold at discounted prices, so, for example, an eGift card for a leading supermarket brand my have a 5% discount., so a £20 eGift card would only cost you £19 in this example. You choose the value of your eGift card. If it's more than the amount you have in Green Rewards, you can top it up to maximise your discounts.

You can then use this eGift card to buy your chosen items, some of the retailers might offer online or in-store only eGift cards, but some offer you both.

You’re not buying the product directly from us - we simply help you save when you shop!

There are 3 ways to buy an eGift card:

1. 1. Use the Green Rewards credit you've built up whilst insured with is.

2. 2. Pay for the eGift card without using any Green Rewards.

3. 3. You can pay for part of if with your Green Rewards and pay for the balance yourself using a credit or debit card.

How The Green Insurer calculates your Green Rewards

We calculate your Green Rewards on two key factors:

• Annual mileage
  The more you drive, the higher your baseline carbon emissions.

• Driving habits (your “Green Driving Score”)
  This is measured via The Green Insurer’s app, tracking aspects like acceleration, speed, cornering and maintenance.

Even with the same mileage, a driver with a high score (e.g. 81–100) produces significantly less carbon emissions than someone with a lower score (e.g. below 50).

You earn Green Rewards faster as your calculated emissions drop, thanks to improvements in your mileage, driving efficiency or both.
